DIAMANDA GALÁS (Wednesday and
Thursday) There are no small emotions for Diamanda Galás, whose
compositions are music theater with its rawest nerves exposed. She takes
up fear and rage, mourning and vengeance; her voice can reach operatic
heights or slice through a room with primal moans and shrieks and sobs.
At 11:30 p.m., Joe's Pub, at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street,
at Astor Place, East Village, (212) 239-6200; $30. (Pareles)
